Last night Gov Sarah pulled the Straight Talk Express out of a spin going into turn four and got the bus going straight again. Liberals wont admit it but Miss Sarah was the better of the two on stage last night. Is she better informed than Joe Biden? No. Do I think she is as "qualified" as Joe Biden to be POTUS? No. But neither is Barak Obama. But when it comes to connecting to "Joe six-pack" Joe lost and the girl won.

I have expressed my concern that Gov. Palin is not ready to be VP or Top Dog. Last night confirmed two things. One, Gov. Palin doens not have the chops to be Veep or POTUS. Two, Miss Sarah is one smart cookie who connects with the public. Yes, the public. You kn ow the great unwashed in fly over country. The vast majority of people who vote and run America. If Miss Sarah doesn't make it with MAC across the line first on Nov 4 she will be the darling of the conservatives for 2012.

I still believe that MAC can win and strongly hope he does. TO do so he needs to get back to basics. My prescription for victory would be to discharge the Rove tactics and replace them with the MAC attack — a no-holds-barred, direct appeal to the patriotism and selflessness of Americans who share an ethos that we are all in this together, and that, in McCain’s words, we need to “fight for America… for her strength, her ideals and her future.” It is this genuine, from-the-gut appeal by John McCain that has inspired voters to help him, against all odds, capture his party’s nomination. It’s time for McCain to get back on the bus and once again tell Americans, “I’m not in this to be somebody; I’m in this to get something done”.

Start by tossing the Rove advisers off the bus.

Is there anyone still at the NYT HQ in New York City? Apparently not.

The nation's biggest Cougar Maureen "MO DO" Dowd has joined the rest of the NYT scribes and bivouacked herself at the local No Tel Motel in Anywhere, Alaska. The Queen of Cougars has opined on the MIss Sarah's foreign policy expertise, or lack there of. In her column today she compares the interview of Governor Sarah, by Charlie Gibson of ABC NEWS, with early interrogations of "W".

Queen Cougar writes about Governor Palin, "She had the same flimsy but tenacious adeptness at saying nothing, the same generalities and platitudes, the same restrained resentment at being pressed to be specific, as though specific is the province of silly eggheads, not people who clear brush at the ranch or shoot moose on the tundra."

Look, as one who wrote in Johnny Mac in 2000 and 2004, you won't get much of a defense of "W" from me. But, really, when will my girlfriend figure things out? As soon as she begins to make some sense she makes a statement so preposterous, so idiotic, so lacking in "gravitas" one begins to wonder if old Mo has gotten well---to use a ever present negative mentioned against MAC---too old?

One of the key talking points for those opposed to the Palin record is her "lack of foreign policy experiecne". I agree. I do think that the Governor of Alaska is lacking in the basics of foreign policy. So is Senator Obama. No better example of Senator Obama's limited grasp of foreign policy was his staggeringly incoherent response to the Russian invasion of Georgia. He bobbed and weaved and changed his answer more times than a husband caught with the family au pair.

MO DO, interestingly enough, highlights Governor Palin's use of Russia's geographic locale, "they're our next door neighbors" as an example of her weak foreign policy expertise. MO continues, "she might have realized that as heinous as Russia’s behavior toward Georgia was, it was not completely unprovoked. The State Department has let it be known that it warned McCain’s friend, Misha, the hotheaded president of Georgia, not to send troops in to crush the rebellion in two breakaway states."

MO, the reason "Misha" put troops into those regions was after the Russians, led by Mr. KGB, Valdimir Putin, had flooded the indigenous populations with Russian passports, arms and money. Georgia's mistake was falling into the trap. The idea that MO DO would place the blame of the invasion of Georgia highlights Ms. Dowd bias against the electoral system and the left's reflexive love of all things socialist. MO suggests we take Mr. KGB's rational for his invasion over our "allys" reasons to defend his country.

Sarah Palin has a lot to learn about foreign policy. So does Senator Obama. Difference is Senator Obama IS running for president. John McCain understands Mr. Putin. The next president needs to.

MO DO needs to leave foreign policy to the pros. Check out of that No Tel Motel in Anywhere, Alaska. Get back to NYC and resume her nocturnal cougar pursuits in the Meat Packing District.

GAME OVER! THE NYT HAS UNCOVERED REAL SCANDAL IN THE PALIN HISTORY!

...and the scandal is clearly enunciated on the NYT Sunday front page,"ONCE ELECTED, PALIN HIRED FRIENDS AND LASHED FOES".

Are you kidding me? I encourage anyone to read the entire NYT article in today's paper. Talk about no smoke, no fire. With all the resources of the "grey lady", after spending the last few weeks digging and digging with three reporters, the big scandal is that Governor Palin dispatched her enemies and hired her friends? That's news in politics? Please. Do I agree with some of the hires? No. But, I didn't win the election.

Bottom line remains. This hockey mom took on the republican party in Alaska, beat the incumbent powerful republican governor Frank Murkowski in the primary then defeated a former two term Democratic Governor in the general election. Along the way she raised taxes on the oil and gas industry and passed along the largess to the citizens. Governor Palin currently has a 80% approval rating. And the, yes, elite at the NYT don't understand it. You can feel the condescension dripping off the page. "These people are so stupid", is what the writers really want to say.

When people win elections they get to call the shots. No so long ago another ambitions woman who, didn't win an election, but wielded great power, made some changes too. From the White House travel office and attempting to reform our health care system an un-elected Hillary Clinton dispatched the disloyal and filled positions with Razorbacks.

Nothing wrong with that. You get to do that when you win.

WHY OBAMA WILL LOSE

I like Barak Obama. I have written publicly about that. His statements on "reforming affirmative action" and last night at the service forum at Columbia University Senator Obama endorsed getting the ROTC back on all Ivy League campus. I honestly believe he wants to change "politics". But thus far he hasn't been willing to do more than talk about change.

In July John McCain offered to Senator Obama that the two fly around the country together and debate the issues. A high risk offer and one I'm sure many McCain consultants were concerned the Obama folks might accept. But they didn't. (Unscripted events by candidates make political consultants go grey or bald or both. ) For all the talk and slogans of change, when Senator Obama is given chances to "change" he defers. In response to the Obama campaign claim of "change" I wrote in June the following:

There is no example of similar actions (of change) by Sen. Obama. In fact, just recently, in an effort to inject some change into the election process, Sen. McCain offered Sen. Obama an opportunity to travel across the nation, together, and conduct joint town hall meetings. The response has been calculating and political. Obama's advisers came back and agreed to one town hall format on July 4th and another four in the traditional format. Look, I love politics but I like my slow-cooked ribs and cold beer more. The idea of leaving the ribs and suds for a political debate, of any kind, ain't gonna happen. (Particularly on the only birthday I really care about.) The Obama folks know this and know I'm not alone. Bottom line, no one would watch.

Last night JSM was asked about the "tone" of the campaign. JSM responded by once again offering to debate with Obama across the country:

Questioned about the tone of the campaign, Sen. McCain insisted he was running an issues-based campaign and put the blame on his opponent for refusing to join him in town hall meetings.

"First of all this is a tough business," the Arizona senator said. "Second of all, I think the tone of this whole campaign would've been very different if Sen. Obama had accepted my request for us to appear at town hall meetings all over America."

Sen. McCain pushed for weekly town hall meetings more than three months ago, suggesting that the candidates travel together to battleground states and have a discussion with voters. Sen. Obama repeatedly refused to participate, citing the opportunities voters will have at the three presidential debates to see the pair together. WSJ

McCain spoke first at the forum last night. Obama heard McCain's town hall debate idea again and the junior senator from Illinois had plenty of time to consider the idea. Had the senator acted like another senator from Illinois who was not afraid of debate, Lincoln, and walked out on stage, accepted the challenge and said "lets start right now" that would have been a game changer.

Obama missed his chance. He will not win.

But the Chairwoman of the South Carolina Dems is a mean and haggered old lady. Old Carol stated Governor Palin's "primary qualification seems to be that she hasn't had an abortion."

The most startling thing is that Carol Fowler got her position in politics the old fashion way. Her husband Donnie Fowler got it for her. (Remember Donnie? He was happy to see hurricane Gustav go into New Orleans since it was going to disrupt the GOP convention.) After all, when your hubby is on Bill Clinton's speed dial and a former Democratic National Chair who would dare raise a hand to Mamma Fowler's desire to be South Carolina's Democrat Chair? Hey, it gets her out of the house.

Unlike Mamma Fowler at least Sarah Palin didn't hide behind her hubby to get her success in politics. Sarah Palin got where she is through the votes of the people. No family money, no family political connections just a Mom who joined the PTA.

I am pro-choice but Mamma Fowler should be fired from her job immediately. Don't worry, hubby will find her some other no show job.

MATTHEWS AND OLBERMANN CANNED FROM ELECTION COVERAGE

NBC corporate has finally come to grips with the unprofessional and outrageously slanted coverage of the election by MSNBC. The NYT reports "MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channel’s coverage of the election. That experiment appears to be over." David Gregory will be replacing the dynamic duds. (I respect Matthews since he understands politics but has become too much about Matthews and not the story. The idea that Keithy O is on the same "level" with Chris is appauling.)

For me the worst image was to see, during the Democratic Convention, the "anchors" Eugene Robinson, the always beautiful and perky Norah O'Donnell, David Gregory and a dark glasses wearing Pat Buchanan swaying back and forth to the musical stylings of Stevie Wonder. Ya think you'd ever see Huntley/ Brinkley doing the same?

Keith Olbermann's rise in political commentary is such a corporate creation. He's a jerk, poorly informed and his writing drips with sarcasm and faux intellect. Keith, do us all a favor and go back to reporting hits, runs and errors. Your knowledge of politics is so weak its embarrassing to you and worse to your network. Not to mention as Keith rails against Sarah Palin's "lack of experience" he's more than happy to help his live in squeeze join the fourth estate. I guess being a "reporter" in today's world requires certain "talents". Hmmm Keith what might those be?

But of course as NBC cans the O and M team they announce the addition of the liberals liberal Rachel Madow show. Rachel, who's radio show on Air America has about two dozen listeners was for some reason given a seat at MSNBC and now a show. Its really all such a joke. Sadly no one is laughing.

10 POINT LEAD? AMONG LIKELY VOTERS? WOW! THAT' NEWS

The new poll, taken Friday through Sunday, shows McCain leading Obama by 54 percent to 44 percent among people most likely to vote and was conducted among 1,022 adults, including 959 registered voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 points for both samples, the newspaper said.

Its the women that's driving this. No, not the women in the law firms and media towers. It's the woman who's working the third shift as a nurse at Hartford hospital as her husband works 80 hours a week running the Jiffy Lube franchise. It's these folks that will, in the end, win this for JSM.

David Frum, a conservatives conservative, has written an excellent article in the Sunday New York Times Magazine about the "Vanishing Republican Voter". It highlights that the GOP has been AWOL on the issue of the growing inequality in country. Interestingly, Mr. Frum, points to the fact that most cities and locales across our country with the greatest disparity between "haves and Have nots" are, and have been, run by Democrats and the Democratic party.

One of the reasons I left the GOP was precisely this issue. At somepoint the GOP began to think any government program to help people as being a "waste" or worse. As John McCain said he learned in the cell in Hanoi, "No man can always stand alone." We are truly our brothers keeper.

Mr. Frum states: Inequality, in short, is a conservative issue too. We must develop a positive agenda that integrates the right kind of egalitarianism with our conservative principles of liberty.

And yes, I believe that John McCain understands Mr. Frum's proposition and will return the GOP into the party that believes in giving people a hand up instead of a hand out.

The Obama campaign must be pulling their hair out. First, they have the entertainment gang with folks like Georgie Clooney raising money for Obama in, Cleveland? Lansing? Butte? No, in that blue collar "working families" town of Geneva, Switzerland. Then, a woman I love for her devotion to free enterprise, Madonna is comparing an American War Hero, John McCain, to Hitler during her "Sticky and Sweet" tour. Not to be outdone, Washington DC/ Georgetown's own "Norma Rae" ole Sal Quinn continued her sexist diatribe on CNN this morning against Governor Sarah Palin. Sally Quinn is exhibit number one of a Washington dilettante, gone wild. How many of you have had an interview with a Fortune 500 company go like this?

TIME INTERVIEW:Quinn began the Washington Post with very little experience: reportedly called by Ben Bradlee after a report of her pajama party in celebration of the election to congress of Barry Goldwater, Jr., the job interview included the following exchange.

"Can you show me something you've written?" asked Managing Editor Benjamin Bradlee. "I've never written anything," admitted Quinn. Pause. "Well," said Bradlee, "nobody's perfect."

Fred Biebel, 83, former Chairman of the CTGOP, who began attending GOP conventions with Lincoln, defended his honor and the CT delegation after being attacked by...well...scum.

Although not reported, due to Chairman Biebel's desire to be modest, inside sources state that when black clad protesters (all wearing Curry for Governor buttons) attacked the CT Delegation, "Fightin' Freddy Beibel grabbed his lanyard, adored with every convention button, medal and ID since the 1800's and with the strength of atlas himself, swung this collection of metal and cleared out the black clad protests in one felt swoop!

As Chairman Chris Healy, along with former Congressman Simmons (who was seen talking into his shoe calling in air support from the MN National Guard---Simmons is a former CIA spook)and Biebel stepped over the protesters, sprawled across the asphalt, on their way to the convention hall, one could hear Chairman Healy's Mother say, "you kids all need a time out. And Freddy just gave you one."

I like to joust with Senator Obama and his campaign effort. But, I have always said, and still feel, he is a decent man with the best of intentions. I just happen to disagree with those intentions.

Yesterday he showed real class by stating:

"Let me be as clear as possible," Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president."

Obama said reporters should "back off these kinds of stories" and noted that he was born to an 18-year-old mother.

Rinker Buck, the Hartford Courant's long time staff writer (and it appears has been saved from the corporate ax, thankfully) has a front page story on the state of Connecticut Republicans and their support for John McCain.

Of course the CTGOP in the 2000 and 2008 primaries, strongly supported the MAC ATTACK. It is important to remember that republican primaries are "closed". Only registered republicans may vote. Although behind in the polls, right where the MAC ATTACK likes to be, a victory in November is in the cards with a strong GOP turnout and support form those rascally INDYS.

....in a state that elects women to almost every local, state and federal office MAC's choice of Miss Sarah could be a secret weapon in this race. It should be noted that the first woman elected state-wide in Connecticut was a Sara. Sara B.Crawford, a republican....hmmmmm

JSM will address the leftist organization, National Council of La Raza in July. BO has agreed to speak as well but why not? La Raza is a leftist organization which I am sure supports BO. None the less, JSM will again show his willingness to cross the political and cultural divide by reaching out to an organization that is clearly partisan, against the MAC ATTACK. When will BO address CPAC? Never. And that's because BO is not about change. He is about getting elected. And remember, BO's only running this one time, Madam Michelle has said so.

"Change" is defined by replacing a conservative republican administration(really faux conservative republican)with a far left democratic administration. Let me be clear. Nothing unamerican, disloyal or wrong with being far left. I just disagree with the BO platform.

The MAC ATTACK is all about change. Change for the republican party and change for our politics. The proof is in the record; JSM authored and passed the first campaign finance reform legislation, is against drilling in AWAR, wants to address climate change, proposed---with Ted Kennedy---comprehensive immigration reform and finally JSM has taken the lead in opposing torture.

The best example of just what BO is can be summed up by his actions on torture. BO has criticized MAC for his vote allowing the CIA to use "further measures" to extract information. How did BO vote? We will never know, he missed the vote---he was campaigning.

I challenge the Obama team to show me ANY example of BO opposing his party's orthodoxy. Bipartisian? BO could have joined the Gang of 14 but did not. He rails that he was "opposed" to the war in Iraq but has voted for EVERY funding bill. Change? Where is it? Where is the change?

Change? Leadership? Please.

The Democratic Party is much like the New York Yankees of 2004. Currently the Democrats are 3 games up, it's the ninth inning and the GOP has two strikes on it. But, the GOP Johnny Damon this year is more of a "Big Popi", emphasis on "Popi", John McCain.

The Dems, and Barak Obama are reading the same hymnal. They are hanging their hat on John McCain being another Dubya. It's not gonna work. Sure, you'll get all the Moveon.com votes but you can't win the BIG HOUSE by sweeping the votes in the salons of Upper West Side New York, San Francisco and Seattle.

Senator Obama's campaign hangs on "change". Senator Obama, during his short stint in the Senate has no record of "change". Just more of the same Democratic party line policies.

You looking for change? Try a republican who advocates addressing “global warming,”

When the Democratic Party nominates a candidate who is pro-life or is willing to stand up for NAFTA, instead of pandering to it, then the Dems might have a chance. Until then....08 is McGovern all over again.

This small band of very terrific men and their families and friends have kept the faith and their commitment. I have been honored to attend the last three ceremonies and have spent a lot of time with the wonderful family of veterans and friends before and after each ceremony. Their commitment and efforts are truly a labor of love. It is an honor to be included in their family.

San Francisco reporter Carolyn Lochhead writes an excellent piece on how the continued battle between the Dems will bolster the McCain effort.

"It's amazing given what the Republicans have gone through and the state of the Republican Party, that John McCain is even credible for the general election, but he sure as hell is," said Stuart Rothenberg, publisher of the nonpartisan Rothenberg Political Report.

Ms. Lochhead's excellent piece goes on to refer to current tracking polls showing MAC in the lead. In addition she touches on the Hispanic vote and the potential support MAc may get. Why? In a ironic turn of events, and why JSM is smarter than the "conservatives" who gave us Pelosi and Reid, the fact that JSM believes in treating illegal immigrants as God’s children instead of human cargo, may win him vital votes.

Another area that has yet to be explored is why JSM gained so much Hispanic and Cuban support in the Florida primary. I maintain that JSM, in the general election particularly if he is versus HilBil, will get a much larger percentage of votes from the Hispanic and African American communities. Let me suggest that the support in Florida and across the nation, come November, by minorities for JSM will come from the decades long relationship, and tremendously heroic history, minorities have and continue to have with the military.

The fact that JSM, and his family, has such a strong and majestic history representing America will build a strong bond within the minority community. The military has been for years, rightly or wrongly, the way "out" of the barrio and the "hood" for so many.

A new poll in CT shows John McCain way ahead of where he should be this far away from the general election. With some eight months to go before the general election JSM scores 35% among registered voters and 38% approval among independents against Barak Obama's 52% and 45% respectively. Against HilBil, well, when you factor in HilBil negative numbers--to put in bluntly---she's toast to the MAC ATTACK.

For the come back, ah, old man, these numbers show victory against OBAMA is around the corner. In 2000 when he began his run he went to New Hampshire with 2% (plus or minus 5% which means he could have been at negative 3%) he won by 19%! This was accomplished in far less than eight months. Of course this go 'round he was counted for dead several times and, well, "it's ALIVE!"

I have personally been with the Senator on several occasions after long days on the campaign trail. At no time did I see this great temper---unless warranted. He is a United States senator and expects a high degree of excellence. If you don't measure up---yes you will hear it.

As the attached article shows this is a man with a huge reservoir of love and compassion. The battles John McCain incurred in prison, the death, torture, inhumanity, lawless behavior and most of all, the realization that we are truly our brother's keeper, are experiences and values we need so desperately in our next president.

And yes, when wounded veterans come home from Iraq and do not get proper treatment he gets really mad.

The New York Times editorial today begs the Democratic Party to end the fight and elevate the discussion after "eight damaging and divisive years". They challenge our man JSM to join the discussion by discussing serious and sobering issues. Yet in the same editorial the NYT refers to Senator McCain's "spotty medical records". Hmmm...sounds like, "I mean, that, you know, there is no basis for that. I take him on the basis of what he says." (Hillary's response to the "muslim question".)THose living in glass houses shouldnt throw stones applies here.

What has the pin heads at the NYT, who seem to have a regular plagerist spot somewhere in the organization, so concerned is that the Obama/ Clinton mud fight goes all the way to the Rocky Mountains all the while JSM takes his message to the people.
